Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharma)
The discipline of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers systematic education on procurement, synthesis and formulation, standardization and MARKETING of Medicines. With invention & discoveries of new drug molecules the repertoire of medicine have grown enormously and the subject has developed into a multidisciplinary science. The syllabus of Pharmacy borrows heavily from both basic and applied sciences. The subjects can be broadly classified as:
Pharmacognosy & Phytochemistry- The isolation and evaluation of medicinal substances from natural sources.
Analytical Sciences- Hi tech instrumentation used in pharmaceutical industry for quality control procedure and research.
Pharmacology- The therapeutic action of drug on body.
Pharmaceutical engineering and technology- The technological aspect of manufacturing and formulation.
Hospital and Clinical pharmacy- Optimum uses of drug in specific patient conditions.
Medicinal Chemistry - Designing & synthesis of molecules of medicinal importance.
Should be pass in 10+2 examination from recognized Board/ University with Physics & Chemistry as compulsory subjects and alongwith anyone of the following subjects:-
d) Computer Science
Obtained at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category i.e. SC category) in the above subjects taken together.
Intake: As per AICTE & PCI norms.
Duration: 4 years.
