Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM)
Health is a fundamental human right. Maintenance of optimum level of Health entails individual as well as social responsibility. However, health can never be adequately protected by health services without active involvement of the community. Believes that MPHW (F) plays a vital role in the rural health care delivery system. She should be sensitive and accountable to meet the health needs of the community. She should be able to provide accessible, equitable, affordable, and quality health care. MPHW (F) can act as a catalyst for promoting inter-sectoral convergence in promotive and preventive health care.
MPHW (F) Curriculum intends to prepare skilled and effective female health workers to achieve the goals of National Rural Health Mission, which aims at bringing about dramatic improvement in the health system and health status of the country. MPHW (F) in community health skills to practice basic health care at a defined level of proficiency in accordance with local conditions and to meet local needs. Further, the programme fits into the general educational pattern as well as nursing education system.
Scope of ANM
Demonstrate awareness of, and skills required in the Nursing Process in the provision of health care and Nursing of Patients.
Apply relevant knowledge from humanities, biological and behavioral sciences in carrying out health care and nursing activities and functions.
Show sensitivity and skill in human relationship and communication in her daily work.
Demonstrate skill in the use of problem solving methods in nursing practice
Gain knowledge of health resources in the community and the county.
Demonstrate leadership skill in working with the health team, community and others in the provision of health care.
Demonstrate understanding of and commitment of professional behavior.
Demonstrate awareness of the necessity of belonging to profession organization.
Demonstrate ability in self-awareness, self-evaluation in personal and professional life.
Promotion of health, precaution against illness, restoration of health and rehabilitation.
